St Rita Education Institution Vittal, a Religious Minority Education institution, managed by the Catholic Board of Education, Diocese of Mangalore, had a humble beginning in the year 1935. What began with two students in the corridors of the Priests residence at the Our Lady of Dolours Church Vittal, with the sole objective of educating and empowering the rural children who are deprived of basic education due to lack of opportunities and economic constraints has served the education needs of thousands. The St Rita Aided Higher Primary School catered to the rural children by providing basic education for seventy years. Thousands of students who studied in this center of learning today spread the light of knowledge throughout the globe.

Education is the only tool to elevate the people from economic hardships and social structure and open up to the world of opportunities is well realized by Rev Fr Peter Serrao the Parish Priest and the then Correspondent of St Rita School. While the world is progressing swiftly, survival in the competitive world is becoming tough, English Medium Education was found to be a helpful tool. Fr Peter Serrao realized this and in the year 2008 started St Rita English Medium School (SREMS) under the Management of Catholic Board of Education.

As years passed by the wheels of progress and growth took momentum and in the year 2018 the School celebrated the TEN YEARS of successful existence and achievements. The ten years of the School were marked with value based quality education, 100 percent results in the successive years, steady and steep growth in the number of students crossing one thousand marks, and above all the dreams of hundreds of children to study in an English Medium School being realized.

Today SREMS is a full pledged school with permission from Government of Karnataka and recognition from the Department of Education, well-furnished infrastructure, a big play ground, smart class, digital technology, aided teaching learning facility, cc camera for the safety and security, well established & equipped library and science lab and qualified and dedicated teaching as well as non-teaching staff.

We at SREMS aim at not just giving formal education, but focus on character building with human values, opportunities for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Students are helped to grow and assume responsibility with freedom. Midday meal facility is provided where fresh and well prepared meal is served to the students to keep them hale and healthy. Clean drinking water, school bus facility to transport students, and clean surrounding makes students comfortable and a lovely place to realize their dreams of achieving greater things through education. SREMS is an institution with vision and mission towards nation building through education.
